Despite her diagnosis of "advanced dementia," Mavis maintains good spirits. Mavis's neurologist, Dr. Hart Cohen, stated that the 77-year-old Mavis experiences significant disorientation and often reminisces about her deceased parents.

Amid Mavis's cognitive impairment, Ronald described Mavis as personable and communicative. "She expressed a desire to vote and told me a little about her philanthropic work,” Ronald said.

Ronald added that she relies on Jay for protection and guidance, highlighting the enduring affection and support defining their long-standing relationship. The court-appointed counsel also emphasized the enduring affection and support within the couple's long-standing relationship.

Ronald remarked, "Ms. Leno seemed very happy in their cozy environment." He further clarified that Mavis not only consents to Jay's conservatorship filing but also actively supports and desires it.
