Since 1929, the Academy Awards have been internationally recognized for celebrating excellence in cinematic artistry and technical innovation. The Academy enforces strict guidelines on reproductions and promotional use to protect their integrity.

To preserve the award's exclusivity, the Academy enforces strict rules on the ownership and transfer of the Oscar statuette. Winners "have no rights" to the Academy's copyright, goodwill, or trademarks associated with the award.

They are prohibited from selling or transferring the statuette without first offering it to the Academy for $1.00. This rule also applies to heirs and anyone who acquires the award through inheritance or gift.

The Academy Awards continue to celebrate excellence in filmmaking while maintaining strict guidelines to preserve their prestige. From honoring outstanding performances to regulating the use of the Oscar statuette, the Academy maintains traditions that reinforce the significance of Hollywood's most coveted recognition.

As each year brings new talent and groundbreaking films, the Oscars remain a symbol of artistic achievement in the motion picture industry.
