Kirk Medas died on Friday, May 2, 2025. His family confirmed the news to TMZ and said the cause of death was liver failure, according to his father. The 33-year-old had spent nearly two weeks in a Miami-area intensive care unit after being diagnosed with necrotizing pancreatitis.

His condition worsened, leading to sepsis, sedation, the use of a ventilator, and eventually a coma. Leading up to his death, his castmates and loved ones had kept fans updated. A GoFundMe page was launched to help with his medical bills, noting that he did not have health insurance.

The fundraiser explained that Medas had been sedated in the ICU with necrotizing pancreatitis and that the road to healing would be lengthy. His family asked the public to keep him in their prayers. One day before his death, "Floribama Shore" alum Nilsa Prowant posted a video on TikTok sharing how difficult it had been to see Medas in his condition.

In the clip, she pleaded for prayers and financial support from well-wishers, sharing that Medas had a long road to recovery. However, she expressed optimism that he would pull through. Prowant said that she and others had not shared much publicly because they waited for the approval of Medas's parents.

She described visiting him in the ICU as one of the hardest things she had ever seen and shared how close they had been for eight years. According to her, Medas had once walked her mother down the aisle, underscoring their close bond. On the day of his passing, Prowant also posted a message on Instagram along with a clip of her dancing with Medas.

The caption read, "Thank you all so much for the overwhelming love, prayers, donations, messages, and support for Kirk.[..] His mama is so grateful for every single one of you..and I know Kirk will be too. Please keep praying for him…he's strong, and we're believing in healing, recovery, and a miracle. One day at a time."

Aimee Hall also spoke about Medas's hospitalization in an Instagram post, describing his condition and his stay in the ICU. She explained that Prowant had been flying to and from Miami to be with him and that others were keeping the group updated via FaceTime.

"If you're able to give, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can't, your prayers mean just as much. Please pray for Kirk. Pray for his mother. Pray for his friends," she pleaded. "And pray for his castmates—we're all hurting watching our brother fight this battle. Thank you for your love and support."

Following his passing, Hall paid tribute to Medas on Instagram. "Today we lost a brother, a best friend, and heaven gained the most beautiful angel," she wrote. "Kirk was the glue that held us all together... His heart, his soul, his light… it was something you don't come across often."

She recalled how they had started the "Floribama Shore" journey together at the age of 24 and became like family. According to Hall, they spoke nearly every day, worked and traveled together, and shared many of life's moments.

She added, "I never imagined that the last time we FaceTimed would be the last time I'd see his beautiful eyes... If I had known, I would've held on longer. So much longer." She closed her message by asking for prayers for his mother and everyone grieving. "One sweet day, I know we'll all be together again. Until then, I'll miss him every single day."

Medas rose to fame as a cast member on MTV's "Floribama Shore," a spin-off of the network's "Jersey Shore." He appeared alongside Jeremiah Buoni, Codi Butts, Aimee Hall, Nilsa Prowant, Candace Rice, Gus Smyrnios, and Kortni Gilson.

Before his passing, Medas had been diagnosed with necrotizing pancreatitis, a severe complication of pancreatitis in which part of the pancreas dies due to inflammation or injury. If the dead tissue becomes infected, it can lead to serious, potentially life-threatening complications, many of which require intensive care, as was the case for Medas.
