This raised new questions about whether she had undergone any dental work. In an interview that same month, Dr. Raj Juneja from Face Teeth Smile Dental Clinic suggested that Cyrus might have had gum contouring.

"Miley has likely had gum contouring (crown lengthening) to improve her gummy smile and even out the gum line," said Dr. Juneja.

Cosmetic dentist Dr. Thuha Jabbar from Almas Dentistry and Aesthetics also weighed in, suggesting that the child star could have had a gum lift. "A gum lift is a surgical procedure aimed at surgically addressing gum-related issues," she explained.

Before her current look, Cyrus's teeth had a noticeably different appearance. Dr. Juneja observed the change, "In Miley's previous photos you can see marked crowding (overlapping of her front teeth) which has been corrected."

According to Dr. Juneja, this is likely indicative of orthodontic work. "[...] She may have had Invisalign clear aligners or lingual braces to make this treatment as discreet as possible," he explained.

Alongside possible orthodontic work, experts believe Cyrus may have taken another step to perfect her smile. "It appears that Miley has chosen veneers, evident from the veneers' distinctive shape and polished appearance," said Dr. Jabbar.

Dr. Jabbar explained that veneers likely appealed to the actress because they offer a minimally invasive procedure along with greater durability. She noted that this makes veneers a longer-lasting option that requires less upkeep compared to composite bonding.

Building on the discussion around her veneers, Dr. Juneja also shared his insight, "Miley appears to have had porcelain veneers after braces to improve the size, shape and colour of her teeth."

Given that veneers are placed over a person's natural teeth, it's unlikely that Cyrus underwent traditional teeth whitening. Leading hygienist Anna Middleton, founder of London Hygienist, explained that when veneers or crowns are created, individuals select their preferred shade, often as white as they wish.

Middleton also highlighted an important detail when choosing the right shade. She noted that the ideal match is for the teeth to mirror the whiteness of the eyes, adding:

"That's why if someone has had their teeth whitened and it's an unnatural shade, it can look very obvious."
