The Thames Valley Air Ambulance landed in a field near Welders House, Ozzy's Grade II-listed mansion in Chalfont St Giles, at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The helicopter was sent from its base at RAF Benson in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, nearly 27 miles away, after emergency call handlers were reportedly informed that Ozzy's life was at risk.

Residents near the mansion reported hearing and seeing the helicopter before news of Ozzy's death broke.

A local from Jordans, the neighboring village, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "I went out to have a look and saw that it was landing close to Ozzy's house. All of us were talking about it and wondering what had happened."

"We immediately feared it may be for him as he was known to be in fragile health. When we heard later that night that he had died it confirmed our worst fears," they concluded.

The call to the Welders' House and the swift medical response reflect the seriousness of the situation Ozzy faced on that day.

The rock icon died on July 22 at the age of 76. In his final moments, however, he was not alone. Ozzy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, including his eldest daughter, Aimee Osbourne, who has long avoided the spotlight.

In a joint statement, the Osbourne family said, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

The message was signed by Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis Osbourne.

A close friend of the family shared that Ozzy had always intended to return to the U.K. and live out the rest of his life in his home country, specifically to the family home in Buckinghamshire. "It was where Sharon had spent so long preparing their family home for him," the friend said.

Guitarist Tony Iommi expressed shock on Instagram, writing, "I just can't believe it! My dear dear friend Ozzy has passed away only weeks after our show at Villa Park. It's just such heartbreaking news that I can't really find the words, there won't ever be another like him. Geezer, Bill and myself have lost our brother. [sic]" He also extended his thoughts to the Osbourne family.

Bassist Geezer Butler shared a message on X, saying, "Goodbye dear friend — thanks for all those years — we had some great fun. Four kids from Aston — who'd have thought, eh? So glad we got to do it one last time, back in Aston. Love you."

While Ozzy had faced ongoing health issues in recent years, the family expressed gratitude that he was able to spend his final moments at home, surrounded by love. Aimee, though rarely seen in public, was there as part of the close family circle — quietly by her father's side as the world said goodbye to a rock icon.

Ozzy was, and will remain, a beloved figure in the music world. Just weeks before his death, he was honored with a dedicated exhibition in Birmingham, which Sharon attended on June 25, 2025.

Sharon attended the opening ceremony of "Ozzy: Working Class Hero," an exhibition honoring her husband.
