The two met at Turnberry, where Trump reflected on his roots. "My mother loved Scotland," he said, referring to his late mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, who was born on the Isle of Lewis. "It's different when your mother was born here."

Although the visit included a framework discussion for a U.S.–EU trade deal, the schedule centered mostly around the golf course, which will officially offer rounds to the public on August 13.
