Alec Baldwin and His Brother Stephen Involved in Car Crash in New York's Hamptons

Hollywood brothers Alec and Stephen Baldwin were hurled into a nightmare on wheels when their vehicle smashed into a tree during a torrential downpour.

Alec Baldwin was supposed to be enjoying a quiet autumn weekend with his brother. Instead, he wound up in a terrifying crash that left his luxury SUV wrecked, police swarming, and his fans reeling.

The 67-year-old Oscar-nominated actor and his brother Stephen Baldwin were driving through East Hampton on the morning of Monday, October 13, 2025, when their white Range Rover suddenly plowed head-first into a tree.

Crushed Metal, Torrential Rain, and a Garbage Truck Nearby

Photos and video from the crash site show a grim scene: the SUV's front end totaled, debris littering the rain-slicked roadside. A large garbage truck was also at the scene.

TMZ confirmed that the truck belonged to a waste management company, which stated that its driver was not at fault. Still, the presence of such a massive vehicle left questions lingering about what exactly happened in those split seconds before the impact.

Meanwhile, police officers were seen speaking with both brothers, who appeared soaked, shaken, and silent in the aftermath. Stephen, dressed casually, hovered near the crumpled SUV as investigators examined the damage.

Alec, visibly disheveled, was photographed by the New York Post standing with his hands in his pockets, mid-phone call, as the rain poured down around him.

Alec Speaks Out: 'I Crashed My Wife's Car'

Later that day, Alec took to Instagram, posting a self-recorded video that offered his version of events. His tone was steady but weary — and his explanation was striking.

"This morning I was in this car accident," he began. "A guy cut me off in a truck — big garbage truck. I mean a garbage truck the size of a whale. It must have been something commercial, for like taking away material from a construction site. I mean, it was the biggest garbage truck I've ever seen."

He went on to describe the moment of impact, "To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree, crushing my car — my wife's car. I crashed my wife's car. I feel bad about that. But it's all fine. I'm fine, and my brother's fine."

In the same breath, Alec revealed that Stephen had been visiting for the weekend, and they had just attended the local film festival together. He also offered his gratitude to the East Hampton Police Department.

Police Stay Silent As Family Rushes to Reassure Fans

Despite the dramatic footage and concern of the public, East Hampton police have yet to release an official statement. As of October 14, no citations have been issued and no injuries reported — but no further details have emerged, either.

Still, the Baldwin family moved swiftly to calm fears. Stephen's representative told Fox News Digital, "Stephen is doing fine and is grateful no one was injured. He appreciates the concern, and he can confirm that he and Alec are both safe and well."

Meanwhile, Hilaria Baldwin, Alec's wife, took to Instagram to share a quiet moment of relief. "Thank you for checking in. Alec is ok 🩷. Be safe to all of you," she wrote in her caption.

In the clip, she said, "I'm getting a lot of messages about the accident that Alec was in today […] and I just want you to know he's okay, Stephen is okay, everybody is okay. No one was hurt, and that is the most important thing."

'Hilaria, I Love You': Alec Heads West After Wreck

In his video, Alec ended with a personal message — a mix of gratitude and affection directed at his wife and family.

"I'm going to L.A. to see my family… I can't wait. I'm going out to California to gather my family together, spend a few days out there, and then come home," he shared. "I'm still so proud of my wife. Hilaria, I love you more than anything."

What should have been a peaceful Hamptons getaway ended in wreckage in the rain, and relief — and a reminder that not even a Hollywood star is immune from the chaos of a split-second swerve.
