Donald and Melania Trump's Halloween Looks Cause a Stir

A Halloween appearance by the presidential couple quickly attracted attention online, not for the candy or the crowd, but for what some believed they should have worn.

On October 30, 2025, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump made their grand entrance on the South Lawn of the White House for the highly anticipated Halloween candy giveaway.

But it wasn't just the eerie orchestral version of "Thriller" echoing through the grounds that captured netizens' focus. It was their attire that left fans and critics buzzing.

Outfits That Didn't Stand Out

Despite the occasion, neither Donald nor Melania wore costumes. Instead, the president arrived in a blue suit, paired with a red tie and a "USA" cap. Meanwhile, Melania chose a brown coat with orange detailing, keeping her look polished but understated.

That simple choice sparked curiosity across social media, especially considering what had happened earlier in the month.

Calls for Costumes and Royal References Flood In

"I wish he would have dressed up like a king...or at least wore a red crown 😂 [sic]," one netizen offered. Another added, "They should have on a King and Queen outfit."

"I was so hoping that they would dress up as the King and Queen of America! 😂," a fan posted. One more said, "I think it would have been funny if President Trump wore a king's costume. I love the music provided by our outstanding military. 👍👍"

These remarks came just after the "No Kings" protests that took place on October 18, where demonstrators in multiple states criticized the administration and recent decisions made since Donald was sworn in for a second term.

From Protest Marches to AI Mockery

Although similar protests occurred in June, this most recent wave drew significantly larger crowds, with city blocks packed with people.

One protester, a lawyer from Salt Lake City, told reporters, "We can argue and debate policies and ways that we can solve problems, but we shouldn't be debating the value of people."

Surprisingly, even with these demonstrators, the president's approval numbers have stayed relatively unchanged. But at the time, Donald's political team trolled critics online with AI-generated images of the president wearing a gold crown, which most likely fueled the idea that he should've worn a king's costume for Halloween.

A Familiar Gag Resurfaces

On the other hand, some netizens chose to enjoy the event without diving into political discourse. "Looks like a fun Halloween party," someone posted on X. Another wrote, "I love this 😀 ❤️ 😍."

Adding to the levity, Donald repeated a viral moment from a previous year by placing a candy bar directly on top of a child's costume.

Journalist Eric Daugherty uploaded the side-by-side clip, writing, "🔥 BREAKING: President Trump DOES IT AGAIN! He just recreated the time he placed a candy bar on a kid's head for Halloween 6 years ago. We are SO BACK! 🤣🤣" To which one netizen replied, "LOL. Classic Trump," and Daugherty added, "He had to have known 😂."

In the end, the White House Halloween event proved that the Trumps don't need costumes to dominate the conversation. Whether adored or criticized, their every move keeps the internet talking, turning even a candy giveaway into headline news.
