The 98th Oscars and Vanity Fair Oscar Party delivered some truly jaw-dropping fashion moments — and not all for the right reasons. Scroll to the end to see the looks that had the internet talking.

The red carpet at the 98th Annual Academy Awards had barely cooled before the internet erupted — and by the time the Vanity Fair after-party wrapped, some guests had truly made sure no one would forget their names.

From Demi Moore to Heidi Klum, the night's most debated looks came from women who clearly had no interest in blending in.

Demi Moore arrived in a floor-length dark green feathered gown that immediately split opinion online. The iridescent plumage covered the entire dress, from a dramatic feathered collar at the shoulders all the way down to a sweeping train.

While some admired the boldness, others were far less generous. "She looks like a pineapple I don't mean it in a bad way I know feathers are in [sic]," one netizen mused. "It's giving withered peacock, I don't like it," another added bluntly.

Chloé Zhao went in a strikingly different direction, pairing a form-fitting, long-sleeved metallic black dress with dramatic wide bell sleeves, a ruffled tiered skirt, and a full black sheer veil draped over her head.

The look was gothic, severe, and completely unlike anything else on the carpet. Reactions were swift and cutting. "Made of trash bags?" one commenter snidely questioned. "Who died?" asked another, while a third echoed, "Is this a funeral?"

Nicole Kidman stepped onto the carpet in a pale blush strapless gown with a heavily embellished crystal and silver bodice, a feathered peplum at the waist, and a feather-scattered skirt that swept into a train.

Despite its undeniable craftsmanship, some felt the near-skin tone colour did her no favours. "She often wears a color similar to her skin and it is flat. We would love to see her in more color," one viewer lamented. "Her head weighs more than the body 🥺," another commented.

Renate Reinsve, meanwhile, took a radically different approach — almost aggressively minimal. The Norwegian actress wore a clean, strapless red gown with a sharp asymmetric hem that cut high at the front before sweeping into a long dramatic train, paired with red strappy heels.

No embellishment, no texture, no fuss. For fans who'd been expecting something worthy of her striking looks, it was a disappointment. "No!!!! She's so gorgeous, she was done dirty with the sheet/shower towel look😢" one devoted follower grieved.

But if the ceremony raised eyebrows, the Vanity Fair Oscar Party blew them clean off.

Audrey Nuna was perhaps the most talked-about guest of the entire night, arriving fully encased in a voluminous, heavily textured gold metallic ensemble — a sculptural, oversized gown with enormous swirling sleeves and a seamless full-coverage gold mask that completely concealed her face.

Only her ringed hands were visible. The internet had one clear reference point. "Ladys and gentleman welcome of the 76th hunger games [sic]," one person declared.

Emma Chamberlain turned up in what could best be described as a high-fashion mixed signal: a deep red lace-trimmed spaghetti-strap camisole top with black lace detailing at the hem, paired with a floor-length silver sequined skirt in a chevron pattern — and, crucially, bright yellow elbow-length leather gloves.

The contrast was jarring. "Its giving she was doing her dishes and decided to attend last minute switched sweat pants for a sparkly skirt," one commenter remarked. "Ready to do the dishes," another agreed.

Heidi Klum opted for a pale yellow halterneck floor-length gown with sheer mesh cutout panels on the chest and sides, adorned with intricate floral embroidery and scattered 3D flowers throughout.

It was maximalist, and not everyone was on board. "Why? Just why? 😢😮" one fan despaired. "Stylist is talking revenge on her 🤦🏼‍♀️" another speculated.

Odessa A'zion rounded out the night's most controversial looks in a multi-fabric, patchwork-style gown featuring dramatic sculptural black fringed wings at the shoulders, a leopard-print corset bodice, layered mixed-print skirt panels with black fringing, and a sweeping blue textured train.

Dark, defiant, and deeply divisive — one commenter left nothing to the imagination, saying, "This is the worst thing I've ever seen."

Scroll down to see all their looks — plus more jaw-dropping, double-take moments that had people talking long after the night was over.
