Fred Sirieix Sparks Concern as He Is Pictured Looking Battered and Bruised
The "First Dates" star left fans alarmed after sharing shocking photos of his bruised and battered body following a diving attempt. The TV personality proved that athletic talent doesn't always run in the family.
Something was very wrong with Fred Sirieix — and the photos he posted over the weekend left his followers genuinely lost for words. The beloved "First Dates" maître d' took to Instagram on Saturday, 21 March, sharing a carousel of images that stopped fans mid-scroll.

The pictures showed his thigh, knee, and leg covered in spectacular bruising — deep purples, angry reds, and sickly yellows blooming across his skin in all directions. "Well... for those of you who were asking if it hurt..." he wrote alongside the images. "Yes! It did! 🤩🥴🤪 #diving is not a sport for everyone!"
The comment section erupted almost immediately.

"What's happened???" one bewildered follower demanded. "Wow that look painful 😮. Good recovery [sic]," another urged, while a third got straight to the point, "How did you do this diving?!"
"Ohhh! that looks soooo painful!! 😖😖..hope that's much better soon Fred," someone else winced in solidarity, and one fan, equal parts alarmed and amused, confessed, "Thought you'd been attacked! You'll be grand though, walk it off!"

So how exactly did Fred end up looking like he'd gone ten rounds with the deep end? The answer actually came five days earlier.
On Monday, 16 March, the TV personality had posted a video of himself launching off a diving board into a large pool, set to Tyler, The Creator's "Sugar On My Tongue", and cut together in the style of the song's trending TikTok challenge. The caption? A cheeky "It runs in the family #diving 😂🤪."
Brave? Undoubtedly. Graceful? The bruises tell a different story.
Of course, when Fred says it "runs in the family," he isn't wrong — he's just perhaps the lesser-gifted recipient of that particular gene. Because his daughter, Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, doesn't just dive. She dominates.

The 21-year-old is one of Britain's most decorated young athletes, carrying a name that commands serious respect in the world of competitive diving. Andrea burst onto the international scene in 2022, claiming the World junior title, double European senior gold, and double Commonwealth Games gold — all in the same year.
She also picked up multiple national titles and a World senior medal for good measure, having already made her Olympic debut in Tokyo at just 16 years old, where she reached the 10m platform final.

Paris 2024 brought yet another chapter to her already remarkable story. Andrea claimed a historic bronze in the synchronised 10m platform alongside Lois Toulson — and then made history again by becoming the first British woman ever to win a world medal in an individual Olympic event, adding another bronze in the solo 10m platform final.
She finished sixth in the individual final, but left the pool in tears that, she made clear, had nothing to do with her result.

"Three years ago I didn't even want to be alive, so today I'm just happy that I am alive," she said afterwards, with characteristic openness about the mental health struggles she faced following Tokyo. "Sometimes the Olympic medal isn't everything."
It was a sentiment her mother, Alex Spendolini — Fred's ex — clearly shared. After Andrea's final dive, Alex was there to comfort her daughter. "My mum told me to just keep smiling and she said she was proud of me and they were here to see me," Andrea said. "At the end of the day, that's all I can ask for."

Fred, watching from the stands as part of the BBC's Paris commentary team, had been equally vocal in his admiration. He described his daughter as having "a will of iron" with an "incredible" mind — and went further still, telling The Times:
"For me, she's an inspiration, for herself, for me, for the family. And for all these young athletes who are coming behind her. I remember when Andrea first won the British championship, she was just 15. Some of these girls here are now the same age as Andrea was. And she's so good with them."

That father-daughter bond was on full display more recently, too. Andrea joined Fred for the final leg of his cycling adventure across Ireland, filmed as part of his travelogue series "Tour De Fred".
"It was just the best to have her," he said on Lorraine in January. Speaking on the show, Fred also opened up about how life has shifted for Andrea since the 2025 Olympics.
For the first time since she was 12, she has been allowing herself to slow down — resting, seeing friends, going on holiday, and focusing on her university studies alongside her training.
For a young woman who has essentially held two jobs since childhood, it marks a meaningful change. "So it's like I'm getting my daughter back," Fred said.
