She sold 25 million records worldwide, turned down a £300,000 mansion, and spent years insisting she'd never leave the modest council house where she grew up — but one birthday photo may have just changed everything. Scroll down to see it.

On Thursday, 2 April, Susan Boyle took to Instagram to thank fans for the outpouring of love she received on her 65th birthday the day before.

Dressed in a cheerful pink gingham jacket and jeans, she posed beside a cluster of hot-pink balloons — one of them a large bubble balloon reading, "Happy 65th Birthday Susan" — in front of a fireplace adorned with fresh flowers and birthday cards.

The image was accompanied by a warm message in Boyle's caption:

"Thank you all so much for your lovely birthday wishes, cards and gifts. I've felt so spoiled and very grateful for all your kindness. I'm truly touched by all the love you've sent my way, it means more to me than I can say. I'm so excited for the year ahead and everything that's to come. I can't wait to share it all with you. With love, Susan x."

It was a lovely moment — but some followers were looking closely at more than just the birthday decorations. Among the cards displayed on the fireplace mantelpiece, one sharp-eyed fan spotted what appeared to be a "New Home" card.

It began innocently enough, with one commenter praising Boyle for staying grounded, "I just love how you stayed in your home and you are you! What a wonderful lady. Keep smiling xx."

Another follower gently corrected them, saying, "Hi, this might not be correct, welcome to your new home cards are on the fireplace. Have a lovely evening xx." The original commenter took it in good humour, replying, "Good detective skills 🙌😄."

As it turns out, the fans were right. According to The Sun, Boyle has indeed left the Blackburn, West Lothian council house she has lived in virtually her entire life — the very home that became synonymous with her remarkable story.

She has moved approximately 20 miles away to Larbert, near Falkirk, to be closer to her personal assistant, Geraldine Easton, 41, who had previously made the journey to Boyle's home every day to help with everyday tasks.

A friend told the publication that the move had been an emotional one. "Susan has lived in that house all her life and is a proud Blackburn woman. This has been a real emotional wrench for her," the friend said.

They added that Boyle has brought her two cats along, as well as photographs of her late parents, to help ease the transition.

It is a remarkable turn of events for a woman whose ties to her childhood home were a defining part of her public identity. Boyle famously posed for photos there following her meteoric rise to fame on "Britain's Got Talent" in 2009.

A year after her audition clip went viral — eventually racking up 100 million views — she purchased the council house from West Lothian Council. She briefly relocated to a nearby £300,000 mansion in 2011, but quickly returned, later buying the house next door for £110,000 and combining the two properties into one.

"My home has a lot of memories," she said at the time. "I have my friends, my sense of community, my neighbours."

Fans have been revisiting that legendary 2009 audition in droves, and the emotional responses speak for themselves.

"A gigantic win for all the people that are overlooked and discouraged by smug and superficial people. Real talent on full display. She touched my heart and soul," one viewer gushed.

"Probably the biggest surprise in the history of this show. I just loved the look on their faces when she started singing," another marvelled.

"Susan Boyle, the most famous of all 'Got Talent' contestants. She deserves that title more than anyone. Simply a great voice," a third declared.

"She had enormous courage to brave the smug judgements of the entertainment industry," a fourth reflected. And perhaps most poignantly, a fifth observed, "She knew. The look on her face right before she began to sing was not cocky — it was just pure confidence."

Her recent photos, meanwhile, drew admiring double-takes of a different kind. "She looks years younger than her first appearance on BGT ❤️," one fan swooned. "O.m.g... She looks great is she married now?" another wondered eagerly.

Boyle, who has battled Type 2 diabetes and suffered a stroke in 2022, last toured the UK in 2020. But whatever chapter comes next, it's clear she appears ready for it.
