A visibly radiant Kate Garraway stepped out with a broad, carefree smile on 14 April 2026, marking a striking shift in mood as fresh details emerged about a new chapter in her personal life.

The broadcaster was seen leaving Global Radio, appearing relaxed and upbeat as she made her way to a waiting car. Dressed in a long, houndstooth coat layered over a neutral-toned outfit, Garraway cut an effortlessly stylish figure, her hair loose and windswept as she beamed for onlookers.

The sighting came on the very same day Liam Halligan — a long-time acquaintance of her late husband, Derek Draper — confirmed on live television that the pair have grown close, placing the images firmly within the context of a developing relationship.

However, the romantically linked pair go back further than the headlines might suggest. Halligan was a political correspondent for the Financial Times in the late 1990s and early 2000s, at a time when the late Draper was a well-known name in those same circles.

In the years following the latter's passing, Garraway and Halligan were reintroduced through mutual friends, and in recent weeks and months, a close friendship has grown from there. Meanwhile, online reaction, as one might expect, has been swift and deeply divided.

As attention intensified on 14 April, he appeared on "Talk TV" alongside host Mark Dolan to discuss the International Monetary Fund's latest economic warnings. The host, however, also had rather different plans for the conversation.

Noting with a grin that there was "a big problem in the media when a journalist becomes the story," he pointed out that Halligan had landed on the front page of the Daily Mail alongside Garraway, under the headline, "Show exclusive — man who's put a smile back on Kate's face."

"You're very handsome and everyone wants a piece of the Halligan," Dolan quipped. "What is going on?" Halligan, who cracked several broad smiles throughout the exchange, gave a response that was warm and unhurried.

He confirmed that he had known Garraway for a long time and added, "In recent years, for different reasons, we've both ended up single — against our wishes, I should say."

He also revealed that Garraway had recently attended a gig by his band, the Hooligans, in his hometown of Saffron Walden — a visit that did not go unnoticed by the locals.

"It turns out that some of my neighbours are quite excited that one of their presenters they’ve watched for many years was in the pub and posted a few pictures," he said.
