Strangers help elderly man at baseball game. Then they learn he is seriously ill
She cried after an elderly woman whispered something to her.
As reported by Good Inside Us, Lauren Hinkston Hintzsche and her husband, John, watched the Cubs game.
Lauren noticed an older couple made their way over trying to find their seats. The couple's tickets had them up in the bleachers and she knew that bleachers can be tough to navigate.
Luckily, there were two kind gentlemen sitting in front of the couple who helped the older man to his seat. She found out that they were brothers.
Lauren saw the way these men cared for the elderly gentleman throughout the baseball game.
“During the game, they would help the older gentleman stand when the crowd stood and the one guy stayed seated at times so this gentleman could see the game,” she said
Lauren was touched during that time as she watched how much the couple enjoyed the game.
During the third inning, the older woman leaned down and whispered something to her.
“He’s going through chemo right now,” she said.
Lauren was left in tears because of what she said, according to Good Inside Us.
The older woman added that they have done about everything else they can do and that was the last step.
Then, Lauren saw the older man leaned over to his wife and said, "I just love this!"
She couldn't hold back her tears while watching the way the older couple were enjoying their last days together and the kindness of strangers who didn’t even know about the man’s condition.
The brothers even helped the man up the stairs after the game before they said goodbye.
Lauren said that she gave the two kind gentlemen big hugs and thanked them for their generosity. She added that with all the crap going on in the world, she felt it was a story she had to tell.
