I want to drag my 6-year-old son to the mall in his underwear to teach him a lesson
Dear AmoMama
My 6-year-old son is a very messy child and is constantly spilling everything on his clothes.
I am getting sick of this! Just yesterday we had a birthday party and I dressed him up in his best new clothes and he looked like a living doll, but in the five minutes it took to me get the car keys, he messed himself so badly I had to change him into some other clothes which were not as smart or as fashionable.
I was very upset when we got to the party because all the other kids looked great and some of the other mothers were laughing at me. I am thinking about teaching him a lesson. Next time we go out, and he messes on himself I will just take off his clothes and take him in his underwear.
I said this to my mother and she started shouting saying I was mad and would scar my child psychologically for life. Honestly, I think it would teach him a lesson he would never forget!
I'm tired of being embarrassed by this child and think it's his turn to feel ashamed. Maybe then he will start being more careful!
Am I wrong to want to teach my child discipline? How to behave properly and control himself?
