Oklahoma mom who married her son in the past goes to jail for marrying her daughter
This mother is now in trouble for a serious case of incest, one that she has faced before.
45-year-old Patricia Ann Spann of Norman, Oklahoma, has been sentenced to jail for marrying her daughter, after previously having married her son.
As reported by Pop Culture, Patricia pled guilty to a felony offense of incest, admitting that she had married her 26-year-old daughter, Misty Velvet Dawn Spann.
Aside from the prison sentence, Patricia will also have to register as a sex offender when she is released from jail. She will also be on probation for eight years, and will have to pay a fine of $1,500.
The Duncan Police Department uncovered the relationship from an employee at the state's Department of Human Services. The employee had found out about the incestuous relationship during a "child welfare investigation."
Both Patricia and Misty were arrested in September 2016 in connection with their relationship, when police discovered they had married in March 2016.
Patricia claimed to have lost custody of her three children when they were still younger, but had reconnected with them for the first time again in 2014. After reuniting with Misty, she states they "hit it off."
She claimed that she then investigated the legality of marrying her daughter, and wrongly assumed that it wouldn't violate any law as her name was not on her daughter's amended birth certificate after she lost custody.
The marriage was annulled in October 2017, following Misty filing for the annulment six weeks earlier, citing "illegality and fraud" as the reason
Before marrying her daughter, Patricia had previously married one of her two sons in 2008. That marriage was annulled in 2010 due to incest.
Cody Spann, Patricia's youngest son, has claimed that his mother is a predator, and said that she had threatened to bring lethal harm to both his brother and sister if they did not marry her.
"I think she's just a sick, twisted individual that has something messed up in her head," Cody said. "Why would you want to be with one of your own kids? Patricia's a very disgusting and horrible person."
Misty had been charged with incest, and pleaded guilty to the crime, before she was sentenced to 10 years probation and counseling. Her plea was withdrawn when she was given a deferred sentence.
