Time reported the mixed response Jim Carrey got for his picture that looks like Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The actor’s recent artwork bears a resemblance to the White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. The internet seemed divided in its opinion which had some hailing and other criticizing the actor.

Carrey took to Twitter to share the picture he painted.

‘This is a painting of a so-called Christian whose only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked. Monstrous!’

The painting looks like that of Sanders, but the tweet itself seemed to mimic President Donald Trump’s social media messages.

He is often seen using exclamation points after one or two-word phrases, such as ‘disgraceful!’ or witch hunt!’ etc.

The tweet received many positive as well as negative reactions. Some denounced Carrey’s portrait, calling him ‘sexist’ and a ‘bully.’

Those criticizing him included former Governor of Arkansas and presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee, who is also Sanders’ father.

He expressed his displeasure on Twitter, terming Carrey a ‘Pathetic BULLY, sexist, hater, bigot & “Christaphobe.”’

There were also quite a few people who did not disregard Carrey’s art. One Twitter user, ChuckModi1, called the painting ‘interpretive artwork’ and said he did not understand the noise around the painting.

The 56-year-old actor began painting about six years ago to ‘heal a broken heart,’ according to the Daily Beast. His artwork has increasingly become more political since November last year.

These days, his work revolves around political satire, including portraits of Rick Gates, who pleaded guilty in Robert Mueller’s investigation in February, and Sen. Marco Rubio.

A spokesperson confirmed to Associated Press that the painting was Carrey’s, but did not confirm if it was a portrait of Sanders. The White House too did not issue any statement regarding the tweet.
