Meghan Markle's reported maid of honor revealed. And it's not one of the Royals, source claims
The prince's fiancee has been getting all geared up for the big day, and that includes selecting her wing woman.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to say their "I do's" on May 19 at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. It is now believed that the former actress has chosen her maid of honor to stand by her side.
As reported by Inquisitr, the chosen one is not Markle's future sister-in-law, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge.
This shouldn't be too much of a surprise, as the two women have, in the grand scheme of things, only just met and started to become close. It is also reportedly that although they are becoming good friends, they are very different people.
The 36-year-old former actress has decided to go a different direction, choosing a friend who has known her for many years before she met her prince.
While no name was offered up for the mystery woman, it is widely believed that Markle's longtime friend Jessica Mulroney has been touted as the maid of honor for the special occasion.
Mulroney, a stylist from Toronto, helped to hide Markle and Harry shortly after the press exposed their relationship in 2016. She has been a friend of Markle since before she became famous.
Some insiders have even told Inquisitr that Mulroney has been out and about with Markle in London as the soon-to-be-Duchess attended wedding dress fittings.
This decision should not come as a surprise to anyone, as the maid of honor is traditionally a job given to one of the bride's oldest and closest friends.
It was never likely that Catherine would be chosen for the job, as she and Markle are described as being very different people with very different interests.
Markle has also been described as "independent, confident, and keen to establish her own network of friends" in her new home city without relying too much on the Duchess of Cambridge.
Royal experts have also weighed in on the debate, and said that it would be unlikely that Catherine would be an “attending person to another royal bride,” as she is expected to become the "future Queen Consort" when her husband ascends the throne.
But this does not mean that the pair have a poor relationship. They have struck up a good friendship, and Markle is regularly seen visiting the pregnant Duchess and her two young children.
Catherine has also been a source of support for the former actress as she adjusts to life without her usual social media accounts and an exponential increase in press scrutinizing her every move.
