Previously paralyzed musician moved Katy Perry (and us) to tears during 'American Idol'

It was a story of immense courage and determination that moved the judges.

Shareably reported that David Francisco was paralyzed from the waist down but his voice brought tears on American Idol.

The aspiring singer chose to perform Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder for his auditions on American Idol.

He expertly strummed the guitar as he sang the beautiful song. His wife, who watched proudly from the sides, knew no one could deny the man’s incredible talent.

As his angelic voice filled the room, the judges were moved to tears.

Francisco has had to overcome some extraordinary obstacles to reach where he is now. It was a story of determination to achieve a goal someone has set their heart to.

He had always wanted to become a musician. He followed his dreams and moved to Nashville, Tennessee. He was all set to work on his dream and achieve his goal.

It should have been easier for him since he was in such a central place. However, his dream only grew distant.

Just a few days after he moved to Nashville, he was hit by a car. Though he was riding his bicycle along the side of the road, a distracted driver T-boned him after running a red light.

Francisco was knocked unconscious. The next thing he remembers is waking up in a hospital, hurt and confused.

Unfortunately for him, he was paralyzed from the waist down. He was spiraling into a depression after realizing that his life would now be completely different from the one he was used to.

He knew he had to pull himself together and worked hard to heal himself, both in his mind and in his body. His first step was to forgive the driver who had hit him, he did so and thus began his healing process.

He attended physical therapy, followed his doctor’s advice, and did everything he could to regain his mobility. Then suddenly one day, his prayers were answered. One night, when he was in bed, he realized his foot move just a little.

There was a lot of improvement over the next few months. He continues to improve even to this day and has learned not to take anything for granted.

An old friend reached out to him to let him know he was not alone. Christie was the love of his life. Francisco and Christie tied the knot and have been happy ever since.

Now that life was almost back on track, he decided to continue to work on his dream. He took a chance and auditioned for the talent-hunt show and certainly won over the judges.
