A second woman accuses Pippa Middleton's relative of rape
Pippa Middleton's father-in-law was arrested and charged with the rape of a minor. Another victim has now stepped forward.
The 74-year-old Matthews was questioned by the French Minor Protection Brigade on March 24, 2018, after a complaint was filed in September 2017.
As reported by Daily Mail, his victim claimed that he had raped her in Paris and on the Caribbean Island of St Barts during the late nineties when she was 15-years old.
Now, a second victim has come forward and accused the hotel mogul of attacking her twice dure the 1980's. South Yorkshire Police are investigating the matter.
According to Radar Online, Matthews was arrested in Paris on March 27, 2018, for the rape of a now 35-year-old woman who lives in Britain.
As per police documents, she said the attacks left her feeling shocked and disgusted. She 'developed feelings of self-loathing' and believed she was to blame for the rapes.
Matthews has denied all accusations. He has been released on bail and is free to leave the country, but will be forced to return to Paris as the investigation unfolds.
Based on the findings of the investigation, authorities will have six months to decide whether Matthews should stand trial, or if the charges should be dropped.
As reported by People, the statue of limitations for cases like these is 20 years in France from the date when the victim turned 18. The case can still be tried until 2023.
Matthews owns the Eden Rock Hotel in Saint Barthelemy. The accused and his wife, Jane, moved to St Barts in 1995.
His family and close friends believe that the multi-millionaire is 'the victim of a revenge plot,' and that it is a smart tactic to humiliate and discredit him.
Matthews' son, James, married Kate Middleton's sister in May 2017 at St. Mark's Church in England, and the ceremony was attended by members of the British Royal Family.
