The 74-years-old started his career at age 20 by taking small roles in the films ‘The Wedding Party’ and ‘Bloody Mama,’ but his break out role, and the one who earned him his first Academy Award, was his role as a young Vito Corleone in the Francis Ford Coppola film ‘The Godfather Part II.’

Since then, Robert has been a constant figure in the entertainment industry and he’s known around the world for roles such as Jake LaMotta in the Martin Scorsese film ‘Raging Bull,’ and other films like ‘Taxi Driver,’ ‘Godfellas,’ ‘The Deer Huntings,’ ‘Awakening,’ and ‘Silver Linings Playbook.’

Besides having such fruitful career, De Niro is also a father of six children from three different women, all of them from African American descent, and all of his kids are now grownups.

He married his first wife, actress Diahnne Abbott, in 1976 and they had one son, Raphael De Niro, who followed his father’s steps into acting for a while but now work in the real state; Abbott had one daughter from a previous marriage, and Robert adopted her while they were still married.

The couple got a divorce in 1988, and later, he started a relationship with former model Toukie Smith, with whom he had twins sons, Aaron and Julian, who were delivered by a surrogate mother in 1995.

Two years after the birth of the twins, he married his second wife, Grace Hightower, who is a philanthropist and activist, and after the birth of their first son in 1999, the couple split, even though they never got a divorce.

To everyone’s surprise, they renewed their bows in 2004 and have been happily together since then, and in 2011, they welcomed their daughter Helen Grace, who that was born via surrogate.

The actor is also a grandfather as he has four grandchildren, one from his adopted daughter Drena and three from his son Raphael.

De Niro is a proud husband and father of a family and even though he doesn’t show off about his family, we’re sure that they have a great relationship with each other.
