Mother gives birth to a healthy baby. But after looking closer, her expectations are broken
When Dara Crouch went into labor, she thought she was having another girl. Instead, the 29-year-old mother gave birth to a baby boy.
Most parents already know the sex of their bundle of joy before giving birth, but Crouch and her partner prefer to wait until the big day arrives.
Crouch, who is also a delivery nurse, arrived at the hospital on April 25, 2017, in Columbus, Georgia, as reported by Newsner.
The Georgia mother was shocked when she learned she had given birth to a baby boy after several generations of girls-only pregnancies within her family.
After having a girl, Crouch was convinced that when she was pregnant again she would have another girl, but she was terribly wrong.
Her priceless reaction to the moment she realized it was the first boy on her mother’s side in more than 50 years was captured by Neely Ker-Fox, a professional photographer. The photos went viral on the Internet.
Ker-Fox and Crouch were interviewed for Huffington Post, where they opened up about the whole experience.
“In my six years of being a birth photographer and over 100+ births, I’ve never quite caught a reaction like hers,” Ker-Fox said.
The photographer explained the importance of this kind of images, claiming that her son will be able to recognize all the love and excitement of that day.
“People sometimes don’t ‘get’ birth photography. But one day, her son will see this photo, and the others that I took that day, and see the love and excitement that welcomed him into this world. It doesn’t get much better than that," Ker-Fox said.
Crouch told Huffington Post that she has “some boy cousins” on her father’s side. She added that although it’s only been a few months, her healthy newborn grow so quickly.
