The handwritten love letter from George H.W. Bush to his then-fiancée and future-wife, Barbara Pierce sent on December 12, 1943, went viral on social media.

According to Fox News, Michael Beschloss, a presidential historian, took to Twitter to share that Bush was a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. So he had written the letter on Navy stationery with blue ink.

The letter that begins with the words, 'My darling Bar,' goes on to talk about how Bush was happy to read the news of their engagement announcement through the newspaper.

The future president of the United States of America confesses his love for Peirce and writes about the 'immeasurable joy' that they will share together someday. He also writes how lucky their children will be to have a mother such as hers.

The letter continues to talk about the war and Bush's mission. But the future president also doesn't forget to mention that he could not wait any longer to return to Pierce.

Bush was the youngest aviator in the Navy, and on the wings of his Grumman Avenger torpedo bomber, he proudly carried the name, 'Barbara.'

In his letter, the future president continues to write, 'Bar, you made my life full of everything I could ever dream of - my complete happiness should be a token of my love for you.'

The couple met during a Christmas dance when Bush was still a naval aviator in training. He was 18 years old at the time while Pierce was 17.

They tied the wedding knot on January 6, 1945, only four months after Bush was shot down over the Pacific, the online source informed.

Barbara Bush sadly passed away on April 17 at the age of 92. Her family had earlier announced that her health was failing and she had chosen 'comfort care' rather than any further medical treatment.
