Kourtney Kardashian visits Congress to discuss cosmetics reform
Kourtney Kardashian reunited with Ken Cook, the President of Environmental Working Group in order to make cosmetics safer.
The socialite flew to Washington on Monday, April 23, 2018, with the intent of making her voice be heard by several congressional leaders regarding the importance of updating the cosmetic legislation.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star used her experience as a cosmetic user and as a mother to discuss the importance of changing the law, as reported by E! News.
Kourtney, much like her sisters Kim, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie, is a heavy cosmetic user and is well aware of the dangers that they might represent, especially when it comes to children.
As a mother, Kourtney mentioned that it was important for her to know what ingredients were used in the products, and whether she should keep them away from her three children or not.
With that in mind, and with Cook's help, she hoped to change the Personal Care Products Safety act, which was introduced in May 2017 by senators Dianne Feinstein and Susan Collins.
The Act was created to protect the consumers' healthy by regulating the ingredients used in personal care products. Kourtney's idea is to implement a new legislation that will give cosmetic companies a guideline to follow.
The companies will have certain limits and quantities for each chemical that they might use. This way, the consumers' would be presented with a much safer product.
Kourtney will also be teaming up with her sister Kylie to launch their make-up line, KOURT X KYLIE, on Thursday, April 26. But they won't be the only Kardashians with new products on the market.
Kim Kardashian has also announced that a new fragrance from her KKW brand would be available soon and that it would be based on her body's shape.
