The 34-year-old professional dancer and the 38-year-old actor will finally tie the knot, but the date of the wedding is yet to be revealed.

The announcement was made by Cheryl on Thursday night, May 3, 2018, through her Instagram page, where her fans and followers were able to see a photo of the beautiful ring on her finger.

Matthew got on one knee and popped the quest at the Montage in Laguna Beach, California, where the couple was supposedly celebrating Cheryl's birthday, as reported by People.

In the photo, the dancer covered her mouth with her left hand to put the piece of jewelry on display as her future husband kissed her cheek. 'Here comes the bride' could be found among the picture's hashtags.

Cheryl certainly didn't expect to be proposed to as she spent most of the day sharing her birthday celebrations on Instagram Stories; that included the Cuisinart that she received as a gift.

The couple met in 2006 thanks to Joey Lawrence, Matthew's brother, who, at the time, was a contestant on Dancing With The Stars' third season. They started dating in February 2007 but broke up a year later.

According to Cheryl, Matthew was always very supportive and made sure that they kept in touch over the phone at all times. She added that they used to talk for hours on end.

Almost a decade later, they reunited and the flame was rekindled. During an interview, the 34-year-old admitted that she regretted putting an end to their relationship but that it was probably for the best.

“When we first dated, we were both young and immature, and I was so new to this world. Now we are both adults and feel balanced.”

This was a great surprise and a very positive influence in Cheryl's life, who went through a dark phase after her 67-year-old father, Stephen Burke, passed away back in March.

Due to the emotional pain and pressure, the dancer stepped away from social media for a while, only to return on April 22, when she posted a photo of her younger self with her father as a tribute to his memory.
