Woman shares emotional letter after she could not save a 3-month-old crash victim

A woman only known as Jo was the first one on the scene of a fatal car accident that took the life of a three-month-old baby boy in Western Australia.

As Daily Mail reported, the car wherein the baby was traveled south along the Kwinana Freeway. For still unknown reasons, it crashed north of the Safety Bay Road exit in Baldivis in Perth’s southern outskirts.

Jo was driving home from work when the tragedy took place and did her best to help the baby, but her efforts to try to keep him alive were not enough as he passed away.

Devastated, she took to Facebook to write a letter directed to the baby’s parents that became viral in no time.

“Hi, my name is Jo and last Friday night I was driving home from work and I was one of the first on the scene of your horrific car accident on the Kwinana Freeway.”

Jo, Daily Mail, April 29, 2018.

In it, she pointed out that she cared for the baby after the accident until the emergency crew showed up. Jo confessed that she wrote the letter to let the parents know that their child was never alone.

She wrapped him in her jacket and held him tight before finding a good place to perform CPR. While others were also helping her to keep the child alive, she kissed his forehead and told him that everything was going to be OK.

Apart from letting them know that she cared for the baby, Jo wrote the letter to say that she was sorry for not doing enough to save the boy.

As a mother who held her own dying daughter from an illness, Jo knew that being surrounded by love was the best thing to do in such situations and that thought comforted her when her daughter passed away.

So far, all that is known about the accident is that the three occupants of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman, and the baby, were seriously injured. The couple is believed to be the child’s parents.
