Ellen Pompeo sheds light on favorite character deaths in 'Grey's Anatomy'
Ellen Pompeo is best known for her portrayal of Meredith Grey on the drama series, Grey's Anatomy. She opened up about upcoming departures from the show.
Please note, this article contains spoilers. As reported by ET Online, fans can be expected to say goodbye to two main characters during the season 14 finale. Pompeo assured fans that it "won't be tragic."
While she didn't go into detail about the finale, Pompeo revealed that actresses Jessica Capshaw, who portrays fetal surgeon Arizona Robins, will be leaving the show.
Her character accepts a job offer in New York, which would allow her daughter Sophia to attend her old school and be close to her other mother, Callie, once again.
Trauma surgeon April Kepner, portrayed by Sarah Drew, will also be leaving at the end of season 14. Kepner survived a car crash in the Cold As Ice episode, and viewers are curious to see which direction her story will take.
"These endings aren't tragic. It's gonna be devastating. And then we're gonna pull you out of devastating and make you smile."

Pompeo also added matter-of-factly that "you only get killed off when your behavior is bad. If you're a nice actor, you die nice."
According to Closer Weekly, one of the 'nice actors' were Cristina Yang, as portrayed by Sandra Oh. Pompeo describers her exit as "classy" and said that Oh left on good terms.
Meredith's sister, Lexi Grey, left the show because she wanted to spend more time with her loved ones. Actress Chyler Leigh even helped to write her final scenes.
Some of the actors who didn't part on good terms were Patrick Dempsey in the role of Derek Shepherd, who was killed in a horrific motor accident. The actor bad-mouthed the show in interviews and regularly butted heads with creator Shonda Rhimes.
Katherine Heigl was fired for complaining about the poor quality of material she was given, and her character, Izzie Stevens was written out of the show.
The next episode of Grey's Anatomy, titled All of Me, will air on ABC on May 17, 2018, at 8 pm Eastern Time.
