Former Yankees basketball player, Alex Rodriguez, rested all speculation about the possible marriage between him and pop icon Jennifer Lopez by promising The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, on Thursday that he'd be informed if it happens.

The speculation made its way into the news cycle after Lopez latest single El Anillo, which translates to 'The Ring,' released on April 27, 2018.

Lopez had appeared on Fallon's show a day before her boyfriend's interview, where she said that Rodriguez had no pressure from her side to propose.

She added that the catchy song was meant to highlight the important juncture that most people arrive at in a relationship.

When Rodriguez was asked by Fallon about the possibility of him proposing to Lopez any time soon, he pivoted and gave the viewers a backstory when the song was being recorded.

He had joined Lopez to the studio where she was recording the song. He admitted that he had no true sense of music but he managed to get the lyrics of the song.

He read the piece of paper that had the lyrics written on them and said to Lopez that it seemed that the song was talking about them as a couple. Lopez acknowledged and said that the song was written for her.

Rodriguez added that when he heard the song for the first time, he knew it would be an instant hit. After not receiving an answer to his original question, Fallon pried and awkwardly asked him again.

This awkwardness gathered laughs and applause from the studio audience and Rodriguez jokingly promised to Fallon that he would be the first to know if the proposal happens.

Rodriguez became a sports broadcaster for Fox Sports 1 and ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball. He is also the host of CNBC's Back in the Game which first aired in March 2018.
