Lindsie Chrisley opens up up the experience of being adopted

In a recent episode of the podcast talk show Coffee Convos, Lindsey Christley, 28, opened up about her life and how being adopted by her stepmother affected her.

Lindsey is the daughter of Todd Chrisley, 49, the star of Chrisley Knows Best star. Lindsey revealed that she had been legally adopted by her father's second wife Julie, 45, after he had divorced her mother, Teresa Terry.

Speaking with host Kail Lowry, Lindsie Chrisley, explained that she had three siblings, all born to Julie, who had adopted her legally, making sure she felt included in the family in every way.

The adoption had helped her overcome a sense of alienation, and made her a part of the 'tribe',

“I am from my dad’s first marriage. So his last three kids are from my dad and his wife on the show. So my stepmom adopted me legally.”

Another one of Lowry's guests,  Houska, said she understood Lindsey's struggle as she recently been through a similar situation with her own daughter Aubree, 8.

Aubree's father, Adam Lind, had had very little contact with his daughter and had several brushes with the law. Houska's second husband, Cole DeBoer adopted Aubree and changed her last name to DeBoer.

Houska shared that her daughter had been very happy, she had felt a part of the family, sharing the same surname with her mother and her little brother Watson, who is 15 months old.

Houska and DeBoer are expecting their second child together, and the baby's due date is in September,

Houska revealed that her children tend to arrive a little earlier so she thinks her second daughter may be born in August.

Lindsey and Houska both emphasized how important it is to children to feel included and accepted in a family with step-siblings.
