Fans call for network to create a spin-off show named 'Jackie,' without Roseanne Barr

Fans have been sending tweets to convince ABC in making a spin-off for Jackie, played by Laurie Metcalf, amid the cancellation of the hit-series, Roseanne.

ABC canceled Roseanne following Roseanne Barr’s racist tweets attacking Valerie Jarrett who was former President Barack Obama’s adviser during his administration.

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in a press statement that the tweet “is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel the show.”

Barr has already apologized to Jarrett and to everybody else who was involved in the controversy. She also announced that she will be leaving Twitter.

Even though she expressed how sorry she was, things still are not better for her co-cast members and the crew who lost their jobs even though they did nothing wrong.

Roseanne stars like Michael Fishman, who plays D.J. Conner on the show, expressed how much he felt bad for the cancelation and for the people who are now unemployed.

He wrote, ‘I feel devastated, not for the end of the Roseanne show, but for all those who poured their hearts and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes.’

Many fans agreed to his statements and wrote tweets, campaigning that ABC should have a spin-off show entitled Jackie without Barr.

Metcalf plays the character and is Barr’s sister in the series.

One Twitter user named Jennifer went so far as to make a realistic poster for the possible spinoff. In the caption she wrote, ‘Can ABC make this happen? We don’t need #roseanne we need #JACKIE,’ and went on to tag the network’s official Twitter account.

The public will have to wait for updates on what ABC plans to do next now that one of their highly-profitable shows has gone off the air. It might be possible that the network would listen to the cries of the fans and may just make a spin-off of the show without Barr.
