Caught on camera: Man rescues dog from frozen pond
A man named Alexander braved the cold as he rescued a dog that had fallen into a frozen pond.
The heroic act, which took place on July 11, 2016, was captured on video that was posted to YouTube four months later.
The video shows the dog hanging on the edge of the pond as half her body was submerged in the icy water. The pond is located in front of a large building, with benches around it.
A woman passes by and sees the dog. She stops for a moment and looks around to see if anyone can help the dog.
A man named Alexander then comes running to the pond. He has parked his car nearby. Seeing the plight of the dog, he sprang to action.
He strips off to his pants and runs to the pond barefoot. He lies on his stomach on the ice as he tries to get hold of the dog.
The dog is hostile, even biting his hand as he tries to hold her head, clearly not understanding that a man is trying to rescue her.
She tries to bite his hands as he finds a way to get hold of her. A few people look on as he carries out his heroic act.
Finally, he grabs hold of the dog's head and pulls her out of the water. The dog then runs away.
With a smile on his face, Alexander jogs away from the pond. He rubs his hands on the ice as if to soothe his bitten hand.
It seems he is a dog lover and has dealt a similar situation in the past.
The YouTube clip, which was posted on November 7, 2016, has been viewed more than 1.3 million times. Many netizens showered him with praises for not minding the cold and being bitten to rescue a helpless animal.
