Halle Berry steals hearts with a picture of her new family member

Pets play an important role in the lives of their masters and their demise is often a hard blow. Halle Berry knows this all too well after losing a beloved cat that was with her family for years. While she is not attempting to replace the fallen kitty, she has a new addition to her family that could make the loss bearable.

Halle Berry took to Instagram to pay tribute to her dearly beloved cat that left them after being in the family for 16 years. The actress explained that Playdough – the furry one - and her children — son Maceo and daughter Nahla — were close friends.

“Yesterday my heart broke as we had to put our beloved Playdough to rest due to brain cancer. This little guy lit up our lives and brought us joy every day for 16 years! While his loss is tough for all of us, especially my children, it’s an inevitable part of life.”

Just recently, Berry brought Jackson, a new dog home to heal the wounds left by Playdough and to make the loss bearable. In another Instagram post, the star introduced the little guy to her online family. “Introducing… JACKSON! While you can’t replace one animal with another, a new furry friend sure does bring joy and help ease the pain. Get ready for #livinglikejackson.”

While it’s only been a few days, Berry’s kids seem to have adjusted to the new member and are loving having him around.

From the look of things, Jackson has enough love to last him a lifetime.
