Rachel Brosnahan, 27, wore a floral Dolce & Gabbana long-sleeved gown for her appearance at the 2018 Tony Awards. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star posed for photos but didn’t do press statements.
Later in the evening, she introduced a performance from The Band’s Visit, which featured her Mrs. Maisel co-star Tony Shalhoub. A day after her aunt, Kate Spade, 55, was found dead, the actress paid tribute to her on Instagram.
Brosnahan shared a video of Spade dancing happily. ‘She had a light that words can’t capture but touched everyone she came into contact with,’ the actress wrote.
She revealed that her aunt had been exceedingly kind, beautifully sensitive, insanely talented, funny, and one of the most generous people she had ever known.
The star further described Spade as effervescent. Spade, who was born Katherine Brosnahan, hanged herself with a red scarf from a doorknob from her Park Avenue residence.
At the time of the apparent suicide, she had been alone.
A housekeeper found her lifeless body. Spade’s death came after her husband of 24 years, Andy Spade, sought a divorce.
The star was said to have suffered from depression for about 5 years. She and her husband were not living together at the time of her death, but he was living close by.
