Oprah and Meghan Markle’s mom Doria spent a day together before Royal wedding

Besides being close to Duchess Meghan, Oprah Winfrey is also friends with her mother, Doria Ragland. On Monday at the premiere of her new series Love Is _, Winfrey opened up about her get-together with Ragland.

The multi-talented star was previously accused of bribing Ragland with gifts to allow her to make an interview. Entertainment Tonight discovered the truth about their meeting.

Before Winfrey and Ragland attended Duchess Meghan’s Royal wedding in May, the two met privately at Winfrey’s California home. The pair spent their day snacking and doing yoga.

The star spoke with ET's Nischelle Turner on the red carpet at the premiere of her new series in Los Angeles on Monday. Winfrey explained, "You know what the gifts were? First of all, she's great at yoga, so I said, 'Bring your yoga mat and your sneaks in case we just want to do yoga on the lawn.' So one of the bags was a yoga mat and the other was lunch"

She and Ragland enjoyed a dessert made from fresh kumquats after Meghan’s mother revealed that she loved the fruit. Winfrey has a kumquat tree and in the basket that Ragland was seen with was the fruit.

“If kumquats can get you an interview, I’m all for it!" the star shared bashing the rumors about bribing Ragland for an interview. While speaking to Turner, Winfrey also shared her thoughts on the Royal wedding.

"The story was that Meghan's mom had come to my house and she left laden with gifts."

She described the whole experience as "transformative." The star revealed that it had been more than a wedding but a cultural moment instead.

She added that there had been a shift that happened in the middle of the event. The celebrity felt that what happened that day was bigger than Meghan and Prince Harry but that it bode well for hope for everyone.
