4-year-old critically wounded in Bloomington shooting
Three unidentified men lost their lives and a four-year-old baby was wounded in a shooting inside a building in Bloomington, Indiana.
The incident took place on Monday, June 18, 2018. At around 2:43 p.m., the police were called to Riley Drive 311 after gunshots were heard coming from inside one of the apartments.
According to Pantagraph, Elias Mandiola, a spokesman for the Bloomington Police Department, revealed that the child was transported to a nearby hospital before being flown to a medical facility in Peoria.
The autopsies of the three men are scheduled to take place this Tuesday, June 19, and, so far, authorities are yet to learn the reason behind the shooting
Minutes following the gunshots, police cars with officers wearing bulletproof vests and carrying rifles arrived at the scene, closing down the complex and stopping residents from getting too close.
The three-story building, which is part of Fairway Apartments, was sealed off with crime scene tape, and some of the people who lived in it were forced to wait several hours while police handled the situation.
Most of them were angry and confused because they wanted to know what had happened and weren't able to get any information from the authority figures on site.
Shandaina Roberson, a resident who claimed that she lived in one of the neighboring apartments, confessed to the Pantagraph that she was both scared of being inside and outside the building.
The neighborhood is famous for being a dangerous environment and, according to Jaquan Hamm, another resident, suspicions of drug activity have always been a concern.
This was Bloomington's second fatal shooting with multiple victims this month. On June 10, Taneshiea A. Brown and Steven C. Alexander Jr. were shot and killed outside a building where they were attending a party.
