'DWTS' dancer Derek Hough channels his inner country singer on 'Lip Sync Battle'
Derek Hough performed a Shania Twain song for Paramount TV's Lip Sync Battle.
The episode, which aired on June 21, had the Dancing With the Stars dancer lip syncing Twain's hit song, Any Man of Mine.
Hough showed his powerful moves as he competes against Nicole Scherzinger in the Twain-themed episode.
Though he appeared to do more dancing than singing in the 40-second preview for the Paramount Network show, he still received rave reviews by Twain.
Twain actually invited Hough to choreograph her dance moves for an upcoming tour, which prompted him to humorously offer to join her tour as a backup dancer.
Hough has become recognized for his work on Dancing with the Stars since September 2007. He competed in 17 episodes and won a record six seasons.
Out of nine nominations, he has won two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography for several routines that he choreographed for the ABC dance-competition series.
Hough played the role of Corny Collins in NBC's live musical TV-production, Hairspray Live!, on December 7, 2016.
In May 2017, he joined the judges' table in NBC's new dance competition series, World of Dance, alongside Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Jenna Dewan.
Lip Sync Battle is not Twain's only television appearance this year. In the upcoming reality show, Real Country, the Canadian singer-songwriter will join Travis Tritt and Jake Owen.
Quoted via Variety, Twain said: “It’s been an incredible year for me, releasing my new album and coming back to country music."
“I feel it’s time for me to add my own support in finding our greatest undiscovered talent. It’s beyond thrilling to be leading the charge with Real Country, and I’m on a mission to find artists who will keep country music diverse and dynamic. The kind of diversity that inspired all of us,” she added.
The Grammy award winner's fifth studio album, Now, was released on September 29, 2017.
