On June 22, 2018, during Trans Day of Action, along with a photo, the actress shared a powerful and supportive message to her son, who was born Samantha Mozes.

In the picture posted on Instagram, Nixon can be seen posing for the camera alongside Samuel, or Seph, as he likes to be called, on the day he graduated from the University of Chicago.

Aside from the 21-year-old, Nixon also has a 15-year-old son named Charles with Danny Mozes, her ex-husband, and 7-year-old Max Nixon-Marinoni with her current wife, Christine Marinoni.

Nixon has always been an advocate for LGBTQ rights and is trying more than ever to make a difference with her influence. In 2015, she vouched for marriage equality, considering that people have to 'keeping organizing' like their lives depend on it.

The 52-year-old is becoming more and more outspoken regarding her views and beliefs and is currently running for governor of New York City against Andrew Cuomo, as she confirmed back in March.

When critics called Sex and the City 'groundbreaking,' the actress claimed that there was nothing new about it and that the show only went to replicate what was already taking place in the real world.

According to Nixon, what happened onscreen was already happening on a daily basis, the only difference was that people wouldn't take the time to notice it.

The 52-year-old believes that it is of utmost importance for people to come out and to show the world who they really are. Nixon also added that LGBT members exist in every family and that it was crucial to let their relatives, friends, children and co-workers know about it.

Regarding the immigration issues that keep on filling the news, Nixon recently referred to President Donald Trump as the egomaniacal leader of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which, according to her, is a 'terrorist organization.'
