A couple stumbled upon a struggling deer and, without hesitation, helped untangle the animal from a pipe.
In a video shared on The Dodo YouTube channel, a man can be seen trying to pull a pipe off the deer. The animal's head was stuck in a pipe.
It was a difficult task. The man repeatedly pulled the pipe but it wouldn't come off the deer's head.
How the deer's head got stuck in the pipe was a puzzle. Its huge ears, it appeared, was preventing the pipe from coming off.
A woman took a video of the ordeal. After several attempts, the man finally untangled the deer from the pipe. Feeling dizzy and disoriented from the entire ordeal, the deer couldn't keep its balance as it galloped into the woods. It kept falling to the ground.
Shared to YouTube on December 26, 2017, the video has been viewed nearly 40,000 times.
"That 'pipe' was a poorly designed deer feeder. People fill it with corn so the deer can feed, however by using a 'Y' adapter at the bottom instead of a 'J' adapter they created a situation where the feed settled to the bottom of the pipe and naturally the deer followed the feed getting stuck," wrote YouTube user Scout Crafter.
Another YouTube user, Mikey Mike, commented: "Wow! That's determination, thanks to the good man and the woman filming to force him not to give up! You both saved a life in a distressful situation. That's all that matters!"
Some YouTube users expressed worry over the impact of the rescue on the poor animal.
Carolyn Nunes commented: "I sure hope her neck or head weren't injured when the man removed her head from the PVC pipe... I know he was doing this best to be gentle, but I wish they could have followed her to make sure that she was able to recover."
