Denzel Washington has been doing rounds to promote his "Equalizer" sequel, but during his guesting at "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", he ended up speaking about Chadwick Boseman, and the debt the rising star has yet to pay.

According to Complex, Denzel Washington would very much like for Chadwick Boseman to reimburse him for the pre-"Black Panther" scholarship he provided the up-and-coming actor.

On Thursday's episode of "The Late Show", Washington joked around with Stephen Colbert about bumping into Chadwick during the "Black Panther" premiere in New York City and asking him to pay for the scholarship Denzel once gave him. When he was asked whether or not he was partially responsible for Boseman's breakout success, he said:

"Am I? Oh, because I paid for him to go to school"

Washington explained how this came to be, and it happened years ago when he was invited to contribute to a program that provided tuition fees for students to go on a study exchange at Oxford University. Denzel's contributions ended up funding Chadwick himself, and the then-Howard student thanked him over the phone and yet again during the Marvel premiere.

"I went to the premiere for "Black Panther" here in New York and I saw Ryan Coogler and Chad and he said, 'Oh, I just wanted to thank you for paying...' I said, 'Yeah that’s why I'm here.' I like the movie Black Panther, yeah, good, Wakanda forever, but where's my money?"

During Boseman's own trip to the "Tonight Show", Complex previously shared his own version of what had actually happened at the premiere of his blockbuster movie.

"He said, 'You know, I haven't met you yet,' and I said, 'I gotta tell you something, you paid for me to go to school.' and he said, 'Oh, so that's why I'm here, you owe me money. I came to collect.'"

While they did have a conversation about paybacks, it was clear that Washington meant it as a joke and made a good laugh for the two distinguished actors.
