Star Jones melts hearts with picture of her 'baby girl'

Just months after saying “I do,” Star Jones welcomes a new member in the family who shares her birthday.

Star Jones has just announced that she and her new husband Ricardo Lugo have welcomed a “baby daughter” they named Mimi Marie Lugo. The 56-year-old couldn’t contain her excitement when she shared the good news to her Instagram fans posting a photo with her baby.

“I was going to wait until I actually had her home... but I’m so excited I can’t wait!!! Here’s Mimi.”

Star posed with a furry white puppy revealing it was a dog she was welcoming to her home after losing her dog Pinky a while back.

“Because everyone knows how much I loved my Pinky... and how special she was to me...and will forever be, I wanted to share the joy and happiness of introducing the world to "Mimi Marie Lugo." The newest addition to our family.”

The ‘The View’ co-host also revealed an interesting fact about her new pet and why she named her Mimi.

“Why “Mimi!” You'll never believe it...but she and I have the SAME EXACT birthday, March 24th! Hence the name "Mimi"...as in "Mini Me."

The television star who recently wed on board a cruise liner also shared the story of how Mimi came into her life.

“Call me crazy, but I really think while we were on our wedding cruise in March, Pinky talked to God and told him “I’m not ready yet… but I want a special birthday present for mommy when I’m gone.” And on my ACTUAL birthday... God sent another little angel down from heaven...”

“As you can see in the pic...neither one of have our lashes on (Mimi is just naturally beautiful!) as it was our first meeting...but it's clear we're a match made in heaven.”

Star revealed she and her husband were due to pick up Mimi in the weekend and looked forward to loving the pooch the way she loved Pinky.

“Mimi surely can never replace my baby girl Pinky who now waits for me on the Rainbow Bridge that leads to heaven ...but I know I have enough room in my heart for another little one here on earth and...I’m ready. It’s time for me to raise another diva! Look out ya’ll @iammimimarielugo is here!”

Star tied the knot with Richard on board a Royal Carribean cruise in the Bahamas in March. She wore a haltered Dennis Basso gown with a bow neck tie and a flared skirt. The newlyweds were engaged in 2017 after going public with their relationship in 2016. Richard is Star’s second husband having been previously married to Wall Street executive Al Reynolds until 2008.
