'Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams spotted for the first time after treatment
Michelle Williams is feeling better now she says after checking herself into a mental health institution to treat her depression. The former Destiny’s Child singer tweeted an update about her condition as she was spotted out and about with her fiancé Chad Johnson.
Michelle Williams was looking great on Tuesday following her recent treatment at a mental institution. She was seen walking with her fiance all smiles as she revealed that same day that she was feeling better when she posted the text image,
"I feel the [love]! I just wanted to let you guys know I'm better"
Along with the image, she wrote the caption “Progress to Perfection!” solidifying her claim of being at a better place.
On July 17, Williams revealed she was seeking help from professionals as she shared this message on Twitter.
“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care about your wellbeing,” the post reads. “I have recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals.”
"Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need.”
Though Williams didn’t go into the specifics of her treatment, TMZ confirmed the singer had checked herself into a mental health facility though it was unclear whether she was seeking in-patient treatment or not.
In late 2017, Williams admitted to suffering from depression while still with ‘Destiny’s Child.’ Speaking on “The Talk,’ she confessed it came to a point when she entertained thoughts of suicide.
“I was to that place where it got so dark and heavy because sometimes you feel like, ‘I’m the provider, I take care of people, I’m not supposed to be feeling this way — what do I do?’ I wanted out,”
Luckily for the singer, it didn’t reach that point and she found it in her to seek help.
In April, Williams celebrated her engagement to Johnson who she met during a retreat in Arizona. That same month, the newly engaged singer also reunited with her all-female group during Beyonce’s Coachella performances.
