Cher's Son Elijah Blue Allman, 48, Hospitalized – Details
The incident follows a turbulent year for the musician, who has faced public struggles with addiction, a conservatorship battle involving his famous mother, and a recent divorce filing from his estranged wife.
Elijah Blue Allman, the 48-year-old son of singer Cher and the late Gregg Allman, was hospitalized over the weekend in Southern California following an apparent overdose.

According to TMZ, the incident occurred early Saturday morning (June 14) in Joshua Tree, California. Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he remains under medical care.
The specific substances involved in the reported overdose have not been disclosed. The source noted that Allman is currently receiving the best care possible and described him as very lucky to have survived.
As per the news outlet's report, Cher's primary concern at this time is her son's well-being, and she's doing everything possible to get him the help he needs.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department (SBCSD) confirmed the hospitalization to People, adding that deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to a residence in Landers, California, where Allman was "acting erratically."
"When deputies arrived, Elijah Allman, 48, was being evaluated by emergency medical personnel," SBCSD said in a statement obtained by People. "Deputies located drugs inside the home and Allman was transported to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing."

Allman's estranged wife, Marieangela King, shared a statement with People expressing her ongoing support for him.
"While it is true that Elijah has faced personal challenges in the past, one constant has been his unwavering commitment to sobriety and his loyalty to those he loves," she expressed.
"Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles — but it is important to recognize that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat," added King.

King continued, "Despite the assumptions that often color how his journey is portrayed, the reality is that Elijah remains grounded, focused and deeply committed to living with integrity and purpose."
She concluded, "I want to state, without hesitation, that I will always root for him. My support is steadfast and comes from a place of deep respect for the person he is and the resilience he continues to show."
This recent incident is not the first time Allman has faced challenges with his health and well-being. His struggles with addiction have been publicly known for years.

In a 2014 interview with ET Online, the musician revealed that his experience with substance abuse began at an early age.
Speaking at the time, he reflected on his early choices and their consequences, sharing that he had encountered "some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality."
He acknowledged that while he believed he was being cautious, "the wrong combination of things can happen and you can just slip into the abyss." He described that period in his life as one marked by deep dissatisfaction and admitted he "knew it was wrong."

In January 2024, People reported that Cher filed for a conservatorship over her son. According to legal documents submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court, she sought to be appointed as the sole conservator of Allman's estate.
The filing noted that Allman was set to receive assets from a trust before the end of the year.
It further argued that he was in urgent need of a conservator to protect his property from potential loss or harm because he was "currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues."

The document stated, "Elijah is entitled to regular distributions from the Trust, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah's life at risk."
The filing also asserted that Cher had "worked tirelessly to get Elijah into treatment and get him the help he needs."

Regarding his estranged wife, King, the filing claimed she was not a suitable candidate for conservatorship due to a relationship "marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises."
It also mentioned that Cher had been unable to consult Allman about the appointment of a temporary conservator because of his "current mental and physical health issues."
However, by September 2024, the situation shifted. As reported by the BBC, Cher withdrew her petition for legal control over Allman's affairs.

According to a statement from Allman's legal team, Cage & Miles, the outcome "allows the parties to focus on healing and rebuilding their family bond, a process that began during mediation and continues today."
During a brief hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court, it was confirmed that the family had reached a private settlement.
In the months leading up to his recent hospitalization, Allman was seen in a concerning state that drew public attention.

In May 2025, the Daily Mail published exclusive photographs and footage showing him outside the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles.
The report described his appearance as disheveled, noting visible sores on his legs, ill-fitting and sweat-stained clothing, and what was characterized as a vacant expression. Visuals captured him swaying while standing alone near the hotel entrance, seemingly isolated from others.
This public sighting came amid an unfolding legal matter. Just weeks earlier, on April 8, 2025, People reported that Allman's estranged wife, King, had filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
The court documents stated that the couple, who married in December 2013, had officially separated on March 31 of the same year.

King's filing requested $6,000 per month in temporary spousal support and expressed a wish to retain their 2017 Toyota Prius.
If Allman chose to keep the vehicle, King proposed an alternative arrangement involving a one-time $2,000 payment and $500 monthly in spousal support to assist her in securing another car. She also asked for coverage of her attorney's fees.

In her statement, King reflected on their relationship, saying, "We had a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with memories I'll always cherish. I know we'll remain friends, and Elijah will always hold a special place in my heart."
She further mentioned, "As we turn the page to this next chapter, we kindly ask for privacy and truly appreciate your understanding."
Allman's recent hospitalization comes after a series of difficult months marked by visible signs of personal hardship and an active divorce proceeding.
