Lionel Richie & daughter Nicole spark heated talks over 'strange' pose in recent pic

Of course, no one can count out Lionel and Nicole Richie from Harper Bazaar's "Iconic" September issue, given that Lionel is one of the most legendary singers of all-time. However, their photo sparked some criticism after people shared how "strange" it looked.

Although Lionel Richie has three children, Nicole, 36, Miles, 24, and Sofia, 19, the 69-year-old singer chose to be pictured with just his eldest daughter for the latest Harper's Bazaar Icons spread.

They are included in the magazine's top six first families of music, which also include Kanye West and his two eldest children, Mariah Carey and her twins, and Christina Aguilera and her two children.

For Lionel's spread, the father-and-daughter duo is pictured on a velvet sofa, with Nicole laying down on her father's arms as he sat straight up.

According to their interview with Harper's Bazaar, the "Endless Love" singer shares his hopes for his three children.

"I wish for my kids to discover who they are and explore their passions to the fullest."

Meanwhile, Nicole happily shared that any time with her father is a good time, saying that she and he will do anything for a laugh.

Lionel informally adopted Nicole when she was two years old, who is the biological daughter of his band member Peter Escovedo in 1983. He and his then-wife Brenda Harvey formally adopted her when she was nine-years-old.

After being raised in the Richie household for almost all her life, Nicole is now living as a successful fashion designer. She has been married to Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden since 2010, but they have been together for a while prior to their marriage. Together, they share daughter Harlow, 10, and Sparrow, 9.

Aside from Nicole, Lionel has two children with his second wife Diane Alexander, with whom he separated from in 2003. It is unclear why his two children, Miles and Sofia, were not included in the photoshoot.
