Police officer chases speeding car but culprit offers unusual explanation on why he fled
He hit the gas to run far away from the officer that eventually chased him down. The officer was stunned to learn the reason.
A man was merrily driving on the freeway within the speeding limit. He had nothing to fear as he drove on the road following all the traffic rules.
As he passed a cop car that was stationary on the side of the road, he heard the siren go off. The police officer asked him to stop on his megaphone.
To the cop's surprise, the driver sped up his car and took off. The police officer got into his vehicle and started to chase the man's car.
The man did not stop his car despite noticing that the cop was following him.
He hit the accelerator and tried to get away even faster. He shifted lanes rapidly to get through the mild traffic on the highway.
The chase was getting intense as the man buzzed pass the other vehicles nearly crashing into them.
The cop hit his siren as it went blaring on the highway. He was skillful enough not to lose the speeding car despite the man's driving antics.
Eventually, the cop caught up with the speeding car and the man was forced to halt. The police officer got down of his vehicle and was relieved that the car chase had ended without hurting anyone.
He reached out the driver's side and asked him to step out. The man obliged to the cop's demand. The police officer scanned the car but found nothing suspicious.
He told the man that he had initially tried to stop him because his taillight was broken. He asked him why he accelerated after the first warning instead of peacefully stopping the car.
The man replied, "Last week my wife ran off with a cop, and I was afraid you were trying to give her back."
