Alan Alda, the actor and director best known as Hawkeye Pierce in the TV series "M*A*S*H*," shared on Twitter a cute clip of himself dancing with his granddaughter.

As the six-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner wrote in the tweet, the video was recorded in the garage of his house when the granddaughter dancing with him was nine years old.

Unfortunately, it is unknown which of the actor’s eight grandchildren is portrayed in the footage with Alan.

“When two people eat a cake off the floor, that's it for life.”

Showcasing his dancing skills

In the one-minute video, the duo appeared tap-dancing together for a while. At the 20-second mark, Alan showed off his impressive skills in a short solo. When they finished dancing, Alan hugged the girl, and the small audience behind the camera cheered them.

Along with the clip, the actor shared a touching message:

“I love this video. My granddaughter and I trying a way-under-rehearsed tap routine when she was about 9. One performance only in the garage.”

His secret to a happy and long-lasting marriage

Earlier this year, Alan made headlines when he shared his secret to his happy marriage of more than six decades with musician and writer Arlene Weiss.

In a conversation with Us Weekly, the actor hilariously admitted that his wife considered that the secret to a long and happy marriage was having a short memory.

The particular way they met each other

The couple, who have been married since 1957, met each other in a very particular way. Talking in the “Today” show, Alan said that both of them were at a party, and the hostess prepared a rum cake that was on the refrigerator to cool.

Unfortunately, the refrigerator shook, and the cake ended up ruined on the floor. Out of all the guests at the party, only two people took spoons and started eating the cake off the floor: Alan and Arlene.

"That's how you know. When two people eat a cake off the floor, that's it for life,” Alan joked.

Nowadays, Alan is 83 years old and Arlene is 86. Together, they have three daughters: Eve, Beatrice, and Elizabeth, who have been supporting him ever since he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
