Remembering Carl Reiner's Tribute to Wife Estelle Just Days before His Death at 98

A few days before his heartbreaking demise, comedy icon Carl Reiner paid tribute to his late wife Estelle with a touching post on social media.

Carl Reiner was an established entertainer who conquered Hollywood as an actor, director, screenwriter, and stand-up comedian. However, of all his achievements, nothing mattered to him more than being a doting husband to his late wife Estelle Lebost, who he was with for 64 wonderful years.

Nine years after her [Estelle] demise, Reiner opened up about his struggle to adjust to life after she passed as she was his best friend and “everything to him.”

CARL REINER’S TRIBUTE TO ESTELLE

In the days leading to his death, Carl took to Twitter to pay a heartfelt tribute to his late wife. In the tweet which had over 94,000 likes, the late actor confessed that nothing brought him more joy than “knowing that he lived the best life” by having Estelle as his wife.

According to People, he also described her as “gifted” and thanked her for partnering with him in “bringing Rob, Annie & Lucas Reiner into this needy & evolving world.”

The late lovebirds who were both actors rocked the industry with their famous one-liner, “I’ll have what she’s having” in the 1989 romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally,” directed by their son Rob.

CARL AND ESTELLE’S LOVE STORY

Inquistr recalls that Carl and Estelle tied the knot on December 24, 1943, while he was on leave from the Army. At the time, she was helping a defense contractor draft blueprints.

In their 64-year marriage, they welcomed three kids who have each gone on to make something great out of their lives. Unfortunately, death tore them apart in 2008 when Estelle passed away from natural causes at the age of 94.

Nine years after heR demise, Reiner opened up about his struggle to adjust to life after she passed as she was his best friend and “everything to him.” He also recalled the stat of their relationship and how people believed it wouldn’t work because of the age difference — Estelle was eight years older than him.

CARL REINER DEAD AT 98

After more than a decade without his beloved wife, Carl finally left to join her on Monday night. As reported by People Magazine, “The Dick Van Dyke” show creator passed away at 98 from natural causes.

The devastating news was announced by his assistant Judy Nagy who revealed that he took his last breath at his home in Beverly Hills. Reiner got his entry into the world of acting from stage plays and Broadway musicals such as “Inside U.S.A” and “Call Me Mister.”

However, his breakout role didn’t come until 1950 when he joined the cast of “Your Show of Shows” alongside Mel Brooks.

TRIBUTES TO CARL REINER

After son Rob confirmed his father’s death with a touching tribute where he described him as “my guiding light,” other celebrities joined in. As noted by ET Online, his close friend Mel Brooks called him a “giant” and recalled the time they worked together on “The 2000 Year Old Man.”

His “Oceans 11” co-star, George Clooney, praised Carl for making every room he entered “funnier, smarter, and kinder.” Other veterans such as Alan Alda, Ed Asner, alongside young comedians like Josh Gad, Adam Sandler, and others, honored the late comedy icon.

Even New York Governor Andrew Cuomo had nothing but kind words to say about Reiner. Hollywood Life notes that his “Hot In Cleaveland” co-star Betty White confessed that she was “heartbroken” by the news of his death.

Carl will no doubt be missed by the industry and the world at large. His legacy lives on forever!
