'Charlie's Angels' Jaclyn Smith looks so fashionable at 72
With more than thirty years of experience in the fashion industry, Jaclyn Smith still looks fashionable at 72.
She may be remembered for her years for playing Kelly Garrett on the TV series, “Charlie’s Angels,” which aired from 1976 to 1981, but Smith has flourished to become a fashion icon.
Being in the fashion industry, the star has learned the tricks on maintaining the youthful glow with the help of fashion.
Smith switched from being a sought-after TV star into a businesswoman with many shoppers buying her labeled clothes.
Smith partnered with Kmart stores more than three decades ago and made a line of clothing. It wasn’t long before the line became the empire that it has become known today.
In an interview with Parade, Smith gushed that her brand had sold 700,000 slink T-shirts in 2017.
Smith was approached to create a fashion line 33 years ago. She shared that taking the meeting was just an impulsive choice and was not a business decision at the time.
“I figured I’d go in, see the store and meet the CEO. It fascinated me because my mother wanted to be a designer and she had clothes made for me,” she recalled.
The actress admitted that she initially turned down the offer since she “didn’t see fashion in Kmart.”
Eventually, she decided to have a second meeting, where she saw potential. Smith confessed that she knew it would be challenging since she was still unfamiliar with the business, but she ended up taking a shot.
Smith said yes to create the fashion line but insisted on being involved in the decision-making.
“I wanted to be consulted about hang tags and where the button goes,” she said.
When asked if she expected to last this long in the business, she said no, but added that “when it’s right, it’s right.”
Smith has other ventures aside from her clothing line. She has a skin-care line that her husband developed called Jaclyn Smith Beauty.
She also has a line of wigs with Paula Young.
