Barbra Streisand's only child is a talented singer and a handsome openly gay man

Jason Gould, Barbra Streisand’s son, did not follow in her footsteps until he was in his 40’s because he felt he needed time to explore his musicality.

51-year-old Gould is the iconic musician’s only child and began his music career in his mid-40s.

Gould has made a conscious effort to keep his life private, especially in the recent years as he did not want to be compared with his mother.

Gaystar News reported that he is an openly gay man. He claimed that he waited long before finding his voice in music and did not want to do it before he could express himself well.

The singer explored his musicality and his singing much later in life. In a promo video for his album that was released on September 12, 2014, he said he did so as his mother was an icon and he always felt the pressure of comparison.

Eventually, he felt duty-bound to explore his musical side and decided to pursue his career in music, and he believed that it turned out to be great.

According to reports, when the legendary Streisand heard some of her son’s recorded songs, she was impressed and immensely proud of what he could accomplish all by himself.

She had a “jaw-dropping” experience after she heard the songs and wondered where he had hidden his talent for all those years.

Gould also appeared with his famous mother during her highly successful tour, Back to Brooklyn. The mother-son duo performed on the stage together.

Streisand and Gould sang one of their hits, “How Deep Is the Ocean.” The duet song by the mother and son had featured on his first album.

The pair also appeared in a famous movie in 1991, “The Prince of Tides,” which was Gould’s last known project.

The two played Susan and Bernard Lowenstein, a mother and son in the film. Besides starring in it, Streisand directed and co-produced it.

“The Prince of Tides” earned an Academy Award for Best Picture nomination that year.

Gould released another album, “Dangerous Man,” in 2017. It featured songs such as “The Way You Look Tonight,” Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and “All’s Forgiven.”

Streisand shares her son with actor Eliot Gould, and the two were married from 1963 to 1971. She then married actor James Brolin on July 1, 1998.

Streisand and Brolin are known as one of Hollywood’s most prominent power couples, a marriage that has lasted two decades, reported Goodhousekeeping.

Brolin was married twice before he met his present wife. He was first married to Jane Cameron Agee and then to Jan Smithers.

The two first met at a party. Streisand had expected a “bearded mountain-man type,” but he was clean-shaven, she told W magazine.

On their first date, they ended up talking until 3 a.m. but hesitated while decided whether to go in for the kiss. Two years later they were married on the second anniversary of their date.

The ceremony took place at Streisand’s estate in Malibu, California, in which she wore a crystal beaded gown with a 15-foot veil.
