Remember 80's actress Rae Dawn Chong? Here is how she looks at 57
Rae Dawn Chong, the 57-year-old actress best known for “The Color Purple” and “Time Runner,” has not been present in any project in recent years.
For that reason, people might not know how she looks nowadays. Here are a couple of photos and details of her life to help you catch up with her.
Rae was born in Canada on February 28, 1961. Since her father is the talented comedian and actor Tommy Chong, it was easy to predict that she would be somehow related with the entertainment industry.
The first important film wherein Rae worked was “Quest for Fire” released in 1981. She did such a wonderful job that she got the Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in 1983.
Apart from appearing in several different films and TV shows during the 80s and 90s, she portrayed the love interest in the music video “Just Another Night” by Mick Jagger.
HER WORK AS A DIRECTOR
Rae not only worked as an actress as she also took the roles of producer, writer, and even director of different projects. One of the most memorable anecdotes about her directorial debut (short film “Cursed Part 3”) was how she cast “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt.
He was waiting tables at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant in Maui when Mae saw him and scouted him. Soon after that, he would appear in the previously mentioned film, and the rest is history.
HER #METOO STORY
Rae confessed that the agency she was working for at that time sent her to Steven Seagal’s hotel room in the 80s for an “evening meeting.” Even though she was shocked by how late that meeting would take place, she went anyway.
Once there, she knocked on Steven’s door, and he opened it allegedly wearing nothing but a bathrobe. Rae got in the room and, soon after that, Steven asked if her blouse was silk and wondered if he could feel it.
Clearly angry, she told him that he knew how silk felt like and left the hotel. She pointed out that she never let him touch her and that her heart broke because she realized her agency didn’t care about her.
