Richard Gere's Blue-Eyed Son Makes Acting Debut in Steamy Scene – Fans Say He Looks Nothing like His Dad
Hollywood may have found its next Gere, but audiences are far more fascinated by whose face he inherited.
Homer James Jigme Gere, 26, made his major television acting debut in episode seven of “Euphoria” season three, stepping into the spotlight as the eldest son of Richard Gere and Carey Lowell.

While viewers may have expected comparisons to his famous father, the reaction online pointed in a very different direction. The verdict from viewers was near unanimous: he is entirely his mother's son.
The Role That Put Him on the Map
Homer appears in the hit HBO series as Dylan Reed, a rising Hollywood actor with a significant social media following.
His character enters as a scene partner for Cassie Howard, played by Sydney Sweeney, and quickly becomes an unwitting instrument in Cassie's calculated climb toward fame.

The storyline, engineered by Cassie's confidante Maddy Perez (Alexa Demie), involves Cassie pursuing a romantic entanglement with Dylan.
After the two share an intimate scene together, Cassie takes advantage of the moment to post a photo of them from Dylan's own Instagram account, sending it viral and achieving exactly the media attention she had been chasing.

Maddy delivers the news with satisfaction: the plan had worked perfectly.
It was Homer's first major television role, a considerable entry point for any emerging actor, let alone one stepping out from beneath one of Hollywood's most recognisable surnames.

Fans Had One Thing to Say
The response online focused less on the plotline and considerably more on Homer himself, with fan reactions in particular capturing the mood.
One viewer wrote, "Oh man, he looks so much like his mum." Another went further, "Homer looks so much like his mother Carey Lowell, he looks nothing like his father Richard Gere."

A third agreed entirely, "Man he definitely takes after his mother because he doesn't resemble Richard at all."
Looking at the two men side by side, the observation is difficult to argue with. In a photo taken at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2024, Homer, tall with a head of dark curly hair, stands a clear inch or two above his white-haired father.

The two are turned toward each other, smiling, Homer's hand resting warmly on Richard's back. Any resemblance between them, if there is one, is not immediately obvious.
Born Into a Different Kind of Fame
Homer was born in Westchester, New York, to Richard and his then-wife, former model and actress Carey. The couple married in 2002 and separated in 2013, with their divorce finalised three years later.

Following custody proceedings that concluded in 2016, Homer lived primarily with his mother.
Richard, who now lives in Spain with his second wife Alejandra Silva, has spoken warmly about his eldest child on multiple occasions.

As far back as 2002, when Homer was barely two years old, he described his son as the joy of his life, a boy who loved music, ran fast, and had already developed a sharp sense of irony.
Years later, at a City Harvest gala in New York City in April 2025, Richard said that whether the two were walking in the woods or attending an event together, he was always glad to have his son beside him.

Despite living on different continents, the two remain in constant contact and speak nearly every day.
At the "Euphoria" season three premiere on April 2, 2026, Homer disclosed that his father's guidance had been invaluable, though less about the technical side of performing and more about how to carry himself in the industry and approach the work with the right mindset.

In 2024, Richard revealed that Homer had only recently developed an interest in acting, noting with evident pride that his son had also been writing and directing short films, giving the two a new creative interest to share.
The "Maybe I Do" actor acknowledged, with some amusement, that Homer had seen very few of his films and did not fully grasp the scale of his father's fame, in part because the family simply did not move in those circles.

The Mother He Takes After
If viewers are seeing Carey in Homer's face, it would not be surprising, given where she comes from.
A former top model standing nearly five feet ten inches tall, Carey was a fixture of American fashion during the 1980s, a favored face for Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, and a regular on the covers of Vogue and Glamour.

She was born into an academic family, her father a prominent geologist named Scientist of the Year in 1979 by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists.
Carey grew up traveling the world and began modeling part-time while studying at the University of Colorado, where she caught the attention of a representative from the Ford Model Agency.

A serious interest in theater followed, and she trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse before making her acting debut in 1986 alongside Robin Williams in "Club Paradise." Television audiences later came to know her as ADA Jamie Ross in seasons seven and eight of "Law & Order."
Outside of work, Carey has always been drawn to the outdoors, with a personal life that has included skiing, windsurfing, rock climbing, and whitewater rafting.

More recently, she launched her own ceramics line from a home studio in upstate New York, describing the shift as a natural extension of who she has always been.
With a mother like that, Homer's striking presence in front of the camera starts to make a great deal of sense.

What Comes Next?
The "Euphoria" appearance is not Homer's only project in the pipeline. He is set to star in "The Shards," an upcoming thriller following a group of privileged high schoolers navigating life in Los Angeles in 1981.
Before his breakout, he had accumulated credits in short films between 2022 and 2025, as well as an appearance in a music video for Khatumu's "Hunting Days" in 2024.

For now, Homer maintains a deliberately low profile on social media, with no known public accounts on Instagram, TikTok, or X.
His father, for his part, has made no secret of how proud he is watching Homer step into the industry. Earlier this year, Richard Gere praised his son's growing interest in acting before adding, with obvious admiration:
"He's really good."

Homer may not resemble his famous father in the ways audiences expected, but as he begins carving out a career of his own, the Hollywood connection feels impossible to miss.
