Actor Peter Benson dead at the age of 75

Peter Benson, the famous British actor, has recently passed away at the age of 75 following a short illness.

Benson drew his last breath on Thursday, September 6, 2018, but the details surrounding his death are yet to be revealed.

According to BBC, Benson had a long and prestigious career, with the police drama "Heartbeat" being his most notorious work.

In the show, which was set in the 1960s, Benson played the role of Bernie Scripps, a funeral director who, most often than not, would get himself into terrible money-making schemes.

The character also ran a garage in Aidensfield, a fictional town, where these schemes would take place, usually with the help of Claude Greengrass, played by Bill Maynard, and Vernon Scripps, played by Geoffrey Hughes.

Benson was a part of the show since it premiered back in 1992 and was there when it ended in 2010, lasting a total of 18 seasons. But, aside from "Heartbeat," the actor also had other gigs.

A MAN OF MANY TALENTS

The late 75-year-old starred in "Blackadder," alongside Rowan Atkinson, as Henry VII, as well as in "Albion Market," ITV's soap opera. He also made appearances in "Casualty," a hospital drama.

Benson wasn't just a great actor, he had an undeniable skill when it came to dancing and singing, wish contributed to his profile as an accomplished theater actor.

THE OLD AND THE NEW

Back in 1977, Benson joined Maynard on stage in a production of "Trinity Tales" and played the main role in BBC's television adaptation of Shakespear's "Henry VI."

But Benson wasn't the only star passing away in the past few days; on Friday, September 7, Mac Miller, Ariana Grande's ex-boyfriend, died at the age of 26.

Although the cause of death is yet to be confirmed, it is believed that the rapper succumbed to a drug overdose at his home in Studio City, Los Angeles, California.
